You & I respond better to the story of 1 child than we do to numbers that are much larger but have no face. The story of one child starving has more power than the story of 10,000 that have no face.
The logic of an appeal and lack of facts are irrelevant to its power and appeal.
Our automated responses don’t make us incompetent or foolish. We are wired that way… And advertising agencies, politicians, and other manipulators know this fact and use techniques based on emotion to manipulate us.
And to me, it makes sense to do things that work… Kind of.
