(Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women.)
(There are many BMI calculators on the internet that you should avoid. The numbers they provide are horribly inaccurate. You can be tall with 40 lbs of fat around your waist or you can be the same height and weight with great musculature. The BMI’s are no where close to each other.)
And “Both groups (A and B) received a guideline for lifestyle and fitness training for 4 weeks.” I have no idea what that means and it doesn’t say if anyone followed the guidelines.
This is not a long term study. It is worth watching and perhaps testing.
If you want to test, you will need to do some homework; because, sometimes the effectiveness of an herb comes the root, sometimes the leaves, could be the bark, could be the flower, and if you’re taking the wrong part, you may get no value.
Drug companies love doing experiments using the wrong part of an herb so that they can say they tested the product that outperforms their highly profitable, patented, under-performing, side effect laden, dangerous drug… And the Drug Pushers trumpet that nature doesn’t work, only drugs.
The Drug Pushers don’t even have to ask the researchers to lie. The drug companies just fund researchers to test the wrong part of an herb and publish the results.
Greedy private enterprise providers (Many of which are now owned by Fat Pharma) will discover the information and deliberately sell you the wrong part of the herb; because, it’s cheaper and if you stay fat, they can get you again with something else that doesn’t work.
Make certain you have a reliable provider for whatever you may take.
We know nothing about the potential rebound effect if you quit… Or is this something you take for life? The D3 you should be taking for all kinds of reasons. There may be multiple benefits to the other.
Nonetheless, I’m am currently deciding what I will do to remove excess fat around my middle. I will make a list and then decide what combination of research I will use.
You may rest assured whatever I choose will need to be easy to do, effective, inexpensive, and require very little time. I’ll keep you posted.
Treatment of obesity with Salacia reticulata and vitamin D
…Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from Medical University, “Our goal was to determine its potential effect for humans with obesity.
Material: In a randomized open-label study, we investigated 40 healthy participants aged 30-60 years, physically active, with a body mass index (BMI) of 25-45.
The participants were randomly allocated into two groups.
Body weight, BMI, and body composition were measured. Both groups (A and B) received a guideline for lifestyle and fitness training for 4 weeks.
Group B additionally took one capsule containing 200 mg of Salacia reticulata and 1.6 mu g (i.e. 64 IU) Vitamin D-3 (SRD) 3 times/day with the meals. Significant weight and body-fat reduction within 4 weeks was observed.
Group A lost 1.8 kg or 2.1%, group B lost 5.3 kg or 6.1% (p = 0.03), therefore BMI reduction was achieved.
While Group A lost 1.4 % of body fat, group B reduced it by 4.5 % (p = 0.01).
These promising results suggest that the combination of Salacia reticulata and Vitamin D-3 might be highly valuable and potent to treat overweight and obesity, especially in addition to a modifying lifestyle program.”
