Starved to Death by Our Own Government?
Governments have used starvation as a tool to punish or starve to death their political enemies and/or because they could.
According to University of Hawaii Professor R.J. Rummel in his book “Death by Government”, governments killed 169,198,000 of their own citizens between 1900 to 1987. Before his death that figure was adjusted upwards based on new data uncovered while seeking 100 years.
From 1900 to 1999, the total of people murdered by their own governments was 262,000,000 men, women, children and infants. According to the New York Times 108,000,000+ were killed in wars in the same time period.
The lesson is we should be more afraid of the politically powerful in our country than people in other countries…
